Recipe – Peppermint Creams

Defiantly the easiest ‘baking’ I have ever done with the children -  Peppermint Creams.  Dalton had a blast making different colours, and then using some of it like play-dough to make different shapes.  (Needless to say, we won’t actually be eating those ones!!)Peppermint Creams

Icing Sugar

Sweetened Condensed Milk

Food Colouring

Peppermint essence

 

Method

Pour about half a can of the milk into a bowl.  Then add icing sugar gradually until you get a good thick paste.  You need to get your hands mucky (all part the fun!).   You will know when you have the right consistency when you stick a clean finger into the mix and bring it back out again still relatively clean (I.e. not covered in gloopy, sticky stuff!)  At a guess, we used about 150g of Icing Sugar.

Add colour and peppermint essence to taste.

Roll out onto a surface covered with icing sugar and enjoy getting creative with your little helpers!  You can make balls and squash them to make oval ones or use cookie cutters.

So easy, so fun for the little ones (even 1 year old Belle got involved!) and you can even wrap them and give them as gifts.  And they taste pretty good too!
