Pantone Colour of the year- Emerald Green

The Pantone Colour for 2013 has been officially confirmed as Emerald Green!  So it’s out with the orange (if you were ever brave enough to go Orange in your home décor, we commend you!) and in with the Green – a colour much easier for a home to absorb, but still guaranteed to create ‘pop’ in any room.

So here are our top tips to add this colour to your lives.  If you are feeling a bit green with concern – read on, maybe we can convince you!

We know from experience how easy it can be to banish the plants the first time your little one topples a plant pot onto the lounge carpet.  And, please do remember, that many house plants can be poisonous so MUST be kept out of children’s reach.  But find a nice high spot, dust out the cobwebs (unless you are more efficient than I and have none!) and fill it with a gorgeous new plant.  You could even put it in an Emerald green pot if you want to be really ‘on trend’!

2. Cushions You know by now how we feel about cushions here at D & T, and really, we will find any excuse to buy a new one…or two.  But in all seriousness (puts on the face that she uses when justifying new cushions to the hubby!), they are the perfect way to update any room.

3. Artwork.  A new painting or picture is guaranteed to give any room a facelift.  If you can’t find one you love, (and you’ll find it hard not to with all of our gorgeous ranges) give your little artists a selection of green paints and let them create the new Pantone masterpiece of the year.  Frame it and hang it – particularly perfect for a playroom.

4.Paint If you are feeling brave, paint a feature wall.  Whilst I have to confess to having a real weakness for wallpaper, paint is a much cheaper and less permanent way of updating any room.  A lounge or dining room with one Emerald Green wall be sensational – I’m even tempted to take down some wallpaper and try this one myself!cot bedding

5. Accessories If you are after a much more subtle way to embrace this year’s colour, how about adding some fabulous emerald green accessories to your wardrobe.  And if you have a May baby – surely one of these fabulous birthstone necklaces is an absolute must. On trend and from the heart – perfect.birthstone necklace
